Bazil
She was a fairly reclusive creature, staying in her marsh most of the time, away from the members of her herd. But, sometimes, duty called and she had no choice but to answer. Today had been one such occasion, when she had ventured out to the West to check in on the small herd who had called this particular corner of her territory their home. She had not heard from her corespondent in quite some time and was growing worried. Not knowing if they too had been hit by the same monster who had taken her parents from her. They had been quite close to her family back in the day, though it seemed, since the attack, that the herds in the region rarely interacted with the Capital anymore. Not that Bazil blamed them, if the rest of the world could be shut out entirely, she would have made it so. Still, they were under the umbrella of her ruling, and were her responsibility. She had spent the day walking about the coast, looking for signs that the group still lived here. Having hoped to at least run into her Co-Ruler's mother, so that she may send word that he was looking for her, and ease his mind. No such luck had been bestowed upon her, so she had instead set about making clear markers around the boarders and the beach. She wanted to be sure any who ventured into this part of her land knew it was in fact HERS, and that they were not welcome unless they were vetted by her herself. Of course, the land could be claimed by Northerners if the herd here had in fact fallen, and someone wanted to step up to the plate. But, they'd have to come to her with such a request, through the right channels and such. There were still traditions to uphold after all, rules that she didn't write, but intended to adhere to.
She had stayed past nightfall to view the wondrous painting of the night sky here. She had grown up hearing about it's beauty and knew that it was a sight not to be missed. She lay in the sand, basking in the rays from the visible Moons above her, looking up at the nearly endless amount of stars. It really was breath taking, the way they shone and sparkled, the way it all reflected on the calm waters slowly licking at the shores. This place was almost as ethereal as her own Marsh lands, the colors of the stars reflecting off of the water a similar shade of blue. It was easy to see why someone would want to live in this place, out in the open air. Bazil closed her eyes for a moment and took a deep breath, grounding herself to this place, in this moment. It was a peaceful feeling, relaxing in the cool sands on such a beautiful summer night. She would perhaps have to make this trip more often, for both diplomatic, and personal reasons. She had managed to shake the two Sentinels who had attempted to follow her here, making her feel crowded in the name of her protection. It had been one of the things that had made her dislike her new position, the need for body guards was ridiculous, but convincing her Lead Sentinel it was unnecessary was next to impossible, especially on the heels of the attack on her parents. She had let them trail her while she set about her work during the daylight hours, but managed to shake them as the sun went down. She was probably going to catch some flack for it when she got back home, but for now... she was enjoying just being alone.
